Hungry Herbie's Drive-In - Cache Creek, BC

Hungry Herbie’s is a dusty DDE in Cache Creek, that I have wanted to try for a long time. I drive past the billboards featuring their Monster Burger frequently. Ironically, it was not their burgers that ultimately drew me in. I have become very curious about their soft serve...word on the street is that it's magic.

Anie's Pizza & Bakery-Take N' Bake sticky cinnamon buns - Cache Creek , BC

I blogged about Anie's Pizza & Bakery previously here. She bakes these crazy good cinnamon buns; if you're there early in the day you can nab one. However, if you're too late for the ready to eat treats, Anie may have some take n' bake ones available for you to prepare at home. Yes, I was too late this day and here are my results from Anie's at home cinnamon buns. I can't recall what I paid for these but I remember they were cheap.

They come in handy twosies...

Bonaparte Bend Winery - Cache Creek, BC

Who knew there was a winery in Cache Creek of all places. I remember a few years ago driving past the Bonaparte Bend Winery on a trip up to 100 Mile House during the winter. I finally made it back during the summer months to give it a try.

CHUM'S Restaurant - Cache Creek, BC

We drive by Chum's Family Restaurant quite a bit and notice that it seems to be busy during the breakfast hours. Chum's has been a DDE to me for quiet some time. It's located right at the junction of highway 1 and highway 97c (the turn off to go to the 'Loop.)

Anie's Pizza & Bakery - Cache Creek, BC

Now Anie's would be one of those places that would be a DDE to many of you driving through. However, I was informed months ago that it is probably one of the better places to eat in Cache Creek.

**UPDATE October 2010: Anie's has now MOVED up the highway to a new location. She is now located in the old Bob's Recreational Sales buiding at 1206 Cariboo Highway (across from the Dairy Queen in Cache Creek.)

Double Dare Establishments

Y'know those restaurants that you drive by on some road trip, and you think to yourself, "Argh, I wonder how is the food there?" (often assuming it's bad...) or "Seriously, does anybody eat there?" The places when even if you're starving after driving for hours (and skipping a meal to make better driving time), you think, "um...hellz no, I'm not eating there!"

These places are Double Dare Establishments. For the purposes of this blog I will make an effort to pull over and try some of these places and blog about them. Don't get me wrong I do have a genuine curiosity about these places, and I am looking forward to seeing what they have to offer.
