Cheryl's Place Restaurant - Cache Creek, BC

Cheryl’s Place is located just off the Cariboo Highway in a dusty parking lot, attached to the Petro Can Gas Station, beside the Bear’s Claw Lodge in Cache Creek. Not only is it a truck stop, it’s a Grey Hound stop too.

Authentic Teriyaki Burger and Cafe JOY - Kamloops, BC

Yōshoku in Kamloops? There is now yōshoku in Kamloops, in the form of Authentic Teriyaki Burger and Café JOY. Don’tcha love the name? It’s the kind of name that you must read several times and experiment with different ways of saying it. Look at the signage. It’s almost as if JOY is an afterthought. It looks so lonely way out there on the right. Tell me JOY, are you part of the name or just an interjection of happiness?

Is it:
|Authentic Teriyaki Burger| and |Café JOY|

Or is it:
|Authentic Teriyaki Burger and Café,| JOY!

Or could it be:

Route 97 Diner - Westwold, BC

Since this is the second time I have to do this Okanagan-Vancouver-Vancouver Island circle tour, we decide to take Highway 97 this time around. There’s an old Ford Bronco that catches my eye on the property, next to The Route 97 Diner in Westwold. We stop to investigate and grab some grub.

The Packing House - Spences Bridge, BC

Tucked away in the community of Spences Bridge, lies The Packing House. The eatery is not on the main drag either; it’s located on a quiet road on what seems to be a residential street.

Husky House Restaurant - Cache Creek, BC

During my travels, there are two Husky Gas Stations that I tend to fuel-up at. One is in Chilliwack and the other is located in Cache Creek. Both these stations have a Husky House Restaurant attached to them. After filling up for $1.45 per litre (gah!) for 91 octane in Cache Creek, we traipsed in for some gas station DDE eats.

Pure Cuisine - Kamloops, BC

**UPDATE 2012: Pure Cuisine is now closed.

Before heading down to the Contruction Sites Identity and Space exhibition at the Kamloops Art Gallery, we headed to Pure Cuisine for a light lunch. This particular exhibit runs until the end of the year if you're interested. Pure Cuisine specializes in raw food.

Hungry Herbie's Drive-In - Cache Creek, BC

Hungry Herbie’s is a dusty DDE in Cache Creek, that I have wanted to try for a long time. I drive past the billboards featuring their Monster Burger frequently. Ironically, it was not their burgers that ultimately drew me in. I have become very curious about their soft serve...word on the street is that it's magic.

The Spot - Trail, BC

We decided to take a road trip this summer. We geocached our way through the Kootneys and found ourselves in small towns like Trail. I had not planned on blogging about any of our meals but I found two in particular that I felt needed to be shared.

**UPDATE 2014: New owners and now called the Hot Spot Diner**
**UPDATE August 2013: The Spot is up for sale.**

Ashcroft Manor & Teahouse - Ashcroft, BC

It's a bit of a misnomer. I love afternoon tea and was hoping this would be a full fledged teahouse, but upon calling the restaurant I discovered they don't offer an afternoon tea service. Oh well, I headed over to the Ashcroft heritage site for lunch anyway. Here's a description of Ashcroft Manor from www.planetware.com:

Central Café - Ashcroft, BC

Went to the Central Cafe for lunch. It's a quaint little cafe in the village of Ashcroft. The cafe has a Facebook page and a website if you care to check out a sample menu.

We started with some home made iced tea and peppermint tea. ($1.49; $2.29)
