Ashcroft Manor & Teahouse - Ashcroft, BC

It's a bit of a misnomer. I love afternoon tea and was hoping this would be a full fledged teahouse, but upon calling the restaurant I discovered they don't offer an afternoon tea service. Oh well, I headed over to the Ashcroft heritage site for lunch anyway. Here's a description of Ashcroft Manor from www.planetware.com:

CHUM'S Restaurant - Cache Creek, BC

We drive by Chum's Family Restaurant quite a bit and notice that it seems to be busy during the breakfast hours. Chum's has been a DDE to me for quiet some time. It's located right at the junction of highway 1 and highway 97c (the turn off to go to the 'Loop.)

Central Café - Ashcroft, BC

Went to the Central Cafe for lunch. It's a quaint little cafe in the village of Ashcroft. The cafe has a Facebook page and a website if you care to check out a sample menu.

We started with some home made iced tea and peppermint tea. ($1.49; $2.29)

Olympic 2010 Torch Event - Ashcroft, BC

This event happened quite a while back, however I hadn't gotten around to blogging about it. This was Day 100 of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay. It was scheduled to come through the communities of Cache Creek and Ashcroft. Ashcroft had a little community get together in their downtown core.

It involved various entertainment throughout the day. They also provided snacks and that's what I'll comment on in this instalment of Love of Eating.

Vyanjan Fine Indian Cuisine - Kamloops, BC

Zen Garden - Mill Creek, WA

**UPDATE 2012: Zen Garden is now closed***

Washington State is NOT a great place to have dim sum if you are accustomed to having dim sum in places like Richmond,BC. In fact some Washingtonians suggest that their peers make the drive across the border to get their dim sum fix in Richmond.
Zen Garden is kinda dodgy looking. The building looks a bit like a recreation centre from the outside.

Phở Than Brothers - Bellevue, WA

Phở, for those that don't know, is Vietnamese beef noodle soup. It's awesome. When I'm eating it, somehow I feel like it's making my body stronger like Popeye eating his spinach. I was recovering from a cold this day that I visited Phở Than Brothers, and it was like a bloody miracle when I walked out of that place, sinus problems no more! Yeah, believe it. It's that good.
Of course Than Brothers serves excellent phở. Results may vary if you're chowing down on crappy phở.

madisens - Kamloops, BC

Went to madisens for Mitchell Shafer's weekend menu. This restaurant is located at the South Thompson Inn Guest Ranch and Conference Centre in Kamloops, BC.

Popcorn With my Pro Popper

Why do people use microwave popcorn when making non microwave popcorn is so easy? I'm not a fan of hot air popped popcorn. The best I can explain it is that, it tastes "dry". Also, when using a hot air popper you're left with so many un-popped kernels. Not cool.
That's why I love my Pro Popper.

Anie's Pizza & Bakery - Cache Creek, BC

Now Anie's would be one of those places that would be a DDE to many of you driving through. However, I was informed months ago that it is probably one of the better places to eat in Cache Creek.

**UPDATE October 2010: Anie's has now MOVED up the highway to a new location. She is now located in the old Bob's Recreational Sales buiding at 1206 Cariboo Highway (across from the Dairy Queen in Cache Creek.)
